Administration, in Oak Ridge, Tenn. I t is for a senior-level course requiring a series of calculus, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and chemistry courses as prerequisites. Problem sets are given at the end of each chapter. The book suits its purpose well but would be difficult to use in other university departments. Th e text begins with six chapters (143 pages) on basic atmospheric science, covering the topics with considerable mathematical thoroughness. For example, the Coriolis force is derived in great detail. These chapters stand alone from the Causes of Climate. By John G.
