BIBLIOGRAPHY Publishing generally suffered various set-backs in 1981, and neither RoczSI nor PJ had produced its usual bibliography by the end of the year. However, another familiar facility is continued in 'Stopnie naukowe zj~zykoznawstwa polskiego w latach 1971/72 do 1976/77 i uzupelnienia lat poprzednich', JPol, 61: 157-60. SFPS, 20:283-301, marks the completion of its second decade by publishing a list of the contents of volumes 1-20. Bibliografia prac Marii Renaty Mayenowej, comp.Jadwiga Czachowska, Wa, 1980,56 pp. (no publisher shown), contains both a chronological (1937-1979) list and an alphabetical index. M. celebrated her 70th birthday in 1980. Zofia Bukowcowa and Marian KU(i;ala, Bibliografia podr~czna gramatyki historycznej i historii j~qka polskiego. II. Slownictwo. Kontakty j~qkowe, ZNiO, 166 pp., is divided into two sections. The first contains various lexical studies; the second, items on language contact. (Part I appeared in 1979, see YWMLS, 41 :993·) 2. PHONOLOGY N. Gotteri, 'Getting the Polish grooved frictionals right', jIPA, I I : 44-50, manages to find some order in the 'apparent chaos' of the exceptionally rich Polish system.
