GENERAL This year sees the foundation of the Revista da Biblioteca Nacional, L, Biblioteca Nacional. Vol. I appeared in two fascicules, with sequen­ tial pagination, in] une and December. The format is still a little fluid but, generally, the articles seem promising. F. Leite de Faria, 'As muitas edi~oes de Dom]eronimo Osorio', ib., I: I 16-35, includes a descriptive listing of the editions including, in many instances, the B.N.'s call numbers. M. M. Cruzeiro, 'Obras impressas em Portugal pelo tipografo Hermao de Campos (I50g-I5I8)', ib., I: I 36-49, is a descriptive bibliography of Hermann von Kempen's production in Portugal for those nine years. BEP has returned with vol. 41 (Ig80) appearing this year albeit with no sign yet of vols 39 and 40. Its 'Revue des Revues' is especially wide-ranging this time and contains synopses of many articles in obscure periodicals. J. Barradas de Carvalho, 0 Renascimento em Portugal, L, Imprensa Nacional- Casa da Moeda, Ig80, 66 pp., is a pithy well-documented attempt to define the 'specificity' of the Portuguese Renaissance: not without flaws but stimulating.
