GENERAL This year has seen several collections of reprinted articles and essays. E. Adolfsson, Livstycken. Om kollektivets roster, varuviirldens myter, kvinnans liv och dikt, Liber Forlaget, 300 pp., contains a miscellany of reviews, articles and essays written between 1972 and 1979 for newspapers and OB. The book is prefaced by an account of the author's own intellectual development and search for alternative forms of academic research during the 1960s. The prevailing tone is Marxist. The first of the four sections contains an analysis of J. Kjellgren's Miinniskor kring en bro in 'Drommen om kollektivromanen', ib., pp. 40-46, a critical survey of R. Jonsson's novels in 'Framtidens bakgrund', ib., pp. 47-58, and a review ofL.-G. Malmgren's doctoral thesis on Goran Palm in 'Vern tror pa arbetets ara?', ib., pp. 59-64. Section II is the largest and is devoted entirely to I. Lo­ Johansson. Besides revs of the novels and secondary literature it contains an article, 'Det starka barnet', ib., pp. 92-112, in which the author offers new considerations on Godnatt, jord.
