September 2014 Round Table “Conduct of Hostilities: the Practice, the Law and the Future” (Italy), 4–6 September 2014 The International Institute of Humanitarian Law and the icrc will hold their annual Round Table on “Conduct of Hostilities: the Practice, the Law and the Future”. The xxxvii Round Table will provide an in-depth analysis of the international law governing the conduct of hostilities and the new challenges which have to be faced in the current international scenario at the operational level. Participants will benefit from the contribution of eminent international experts. Particular attention will be paid to a number of specific issues such as: operational planning and targeting; the protection of civilians; technological developments, including the use of automated and autonomous weapons, in respect of the law covering the conduct of hostilities together with its specificities in different domains (naval, air, outer space and cyber warfare).
