Grotius' theological works (including the politico-religious works): a survey of available editions 72 Grotius' theological works (including the politico-religious works): a survey of available editions EDWIN RABBIE* The collected theological works of Hugo Grotius were published in 1679 under the title of Opera omnia theologica in three majestical parts (four volumes) by the heirs of Johan Blaeu at Amsterdam (and simultaneously in London by Moses Pitt) (BG nos. 919-920). This edition, an unchanged reprint of which was published at Basel by E. and J.R. Thumeisen in 1732 (BG no. 921), reap- peared on the market again in 1974 as a facsimile-edition, published by Frie- drich Frommann Verlag (Günther Holzboog) at Stuttgart-Bad Cannstatt. Not- withstanding its prohibitive price (DM 3136,=; even today second-hand copies of one of the original editions are often less expentive) one should be grateful to the publisher for the courage shown by him in undertaking as risky an en- terprise as the publication of a reprint of Grotius' theological oeuvre. Nevertheless the usefulness and serviceability of this edition should not be overestimated.
