Editorial 2 Editorial It is with pleasure that the editors present the tenth volume of Grotiana. In the same breath we have to offer our apologies for the delay in the publication of this volume. Several scholars who recently have made their name in the field of Grotian studies have joined the editorial committee; we hope that their help and contributions will enable us to make up for the delay in the coming years. The present volume opens with a thorough historical study of Dr. Roelofsen of Utrecht University concerning the role of state practice in Grotius' legal works. Next, in line with the aim of Grotiana to be a forum for exchanges concerning the fundamentals of the present search for an international order, Dr. Gill (Utrecht University) discusses the Gulf Crisis in connection with the U.N. collective security and self-defense system; this is followed by a note in which Roelofsen adds a few comments from a 'Grotian' perspective. The interesting article of Dr. Lagr6e (Universite de Caen) concerns the role of the concept of 'natural religion' in Grotius' theological works - especially the Meletius and De veritate religionis christianae - as well as De jure belli ac pacis. Leonard Besselink (Amsterdam University) reviews Posthumus Meyjes' edi- tion of the Meletius. As usual, a systematic bibliography by Jan Willems of Limburg University concludes the volume. Once again, the editors express their gratitude to the Netherlands Organization for the Advancement of Research (N.W.O.) for their grant which made publi- cation of this volume possible. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Grotiana Brill

Abstract
