A hand operated sprayer for applying nematicide around trees

A hand operated sprayer for applying nematicide around trees 244 M. R. NICHOLLS1): A hand operated sprayer for applying nematicide around trees. Control of citrus nematode (Tylenchulus semipenetrans Cobb) by carbamate or organophosphate chemicals has been widely demonstrated (Milne & de Villiers, 1977; Baines, et al., 1977; Frederick & Tarjan, 1977; Ferraz, et al., Panizzi, 1978; Chhabra, et al., 1979; Milne & Willers, 1979; Abu-Elamayem et al., 1982). The most prevalent treatment is fenamiphos or aldicarb at 30 to 40 kg/ha (of treated area) applied only within 1-2 m of the tree (Milne & de Villiers, 1977, 1978; Baines, et al., 1977; Timmer & French, 1979). These nematicides have been applied through microjet irrigation systems (Anon., 1977); in flood irrigation basins formed around trees (Milne & de Villiers, 1977, 1978); in furrows (Ferraz, et al., 1978; Timmer & French, 1979; Abu-Elamayem et al., 1982); broadcast onto the soil surface then cultivated in (Baines, et al., 1977; Timmer & French, 1979) and to foliage (Timmer & French, 1979; Abu-Elamayem et al., 1981). Spraying fenamiphos (40 kg active ingredient/ha; 130 ml of 40% emulsifiable concentrate in 10 1 of water per tree) on the surface of the soil under the canopy of mature citrus trees has given good control http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Nematologica Brill

Control of citrus nematode (Tylenchulus semipenetrans Cobb) by carbamate or organophosphate chemicals has been widely demonstrated (Milne & de Villiers, 1977; Baines, et al., 1977; Frederick & Tarjan, 1977; Ferraz, et al., Panizzi, 1978; Chhabra, et al., 1979; Milne & Willers, 1979; Abu-Elamayem et al., 1982). These nematicides have been applied through microjet irrigation systems (Anon., 1977); in flood irrigation basins formed around trees (Milne & de Villiers, 1977, 1978); in furrows (Ferraz, et al., 1978; Timmer & French, 1979; Abu-Elamayem et al., 1982); broadcast onto the soil surface then cultivated in (Baines, et al., 1977; Timmer & French, 1979) and to foliage (Timmer & French, 1979; Abu-Elamayem et al., 1981). Spraying fenamiphos (40 kg active ingredient/ha; 130 ml of 40% emulsifiable concentrate in 10 1 of water per tree) on the surface of the soil under the canopy of mature citrus trees has given good control
