Abstract

173 move along gradients of attractants produced around females in the water film that surrounds soil particles. That the attractant is not volatile was confirmed by tests showing that the redissolved secretions from females were as attractive to males after they were dried, either in vacuum at 35° or in air at 45°, as they were before drying.
