Metacrobeles Togoensis N. Gen., N. Sp., a Remarkable Acrobelin Nematode From a Diseased Coconut Tree

Erection of a new genus was necessary, as the species could not be fitted into any existing genus of the Acrobelinae without making the latter heterogeneous. The genus Metacrobeles is characterized by the extreme posterior location of the vulva and the shape of the ovary, which is different from the usual acrobelin type in having a single flexure; by the massive, simple labial and the pointed cephalic probolae; the short isthmus surrounded by the nerve ring; the short, ventrad curved tail. The female genital characters show a parallelism with those of the genus Cuticonema Sanwal, 1959. When investigating the "Kaincope disease" of coconuts (Luc, 1957) Mr. H.
