SCHUURMANS STEKHOVEN 1) : A note on the peculiar feeding habits of Telorhabditis longispina (Reiter) Prof. Dr. Jose M. CEI, Santiago de Chile, found that in his cultures eggs of the Leptodactylid frog, Eusophus taeniatus Girard, were completely destroyed by a nematode. The frog develops directly in a gelatinous egg capsule and abounds in woods of Drymis and Notophagus, trees commonly occurring in the cold regions of South Chile (Valdivia) and less commonly around Santiago. Slides sent contained ten females and a number of larvae, mostly in the first stage, which apparently had recently escaped from the uteri of their mothers. Reproduction, therefore may have been hermaphroditic or parthenogenetic. The structure and dimensions of the worms agreed with those of Telorhabditis longi- spina (Reiter 1928), the triangular distribution of teeth in the metastome, the form of the tail and the coarsely annulated cuticle being identical with Reiter's figure. The vulva was slightly anterior to the middle of the body, the tail elongate and gradually tapering to a fine point. Telorhabditis longispina is a cosmopolitan sa- probiont living in such media as cow dung. This is the first record of occurrence in frogs' eggs. It is hoped that at the fifteenth International Congress of Zoology to be held in London in July, 1958 it will be possible for that Congress finally to approve and adopt the new text of the International Code for Zoological Nomenclature as revised by the preceding Congresses held in Paris in ig48 and Copenhagen in 1953. As arranged at the Copenhagen Congress, a draft of the revised text will be submittted for this purpose to the London Congress. In order to assist the Congress in the examination of the draft of the revised Code and to provide ample opportunity for the discussion of the questions in- volved, arrangements have been made between the Secretariat-General of the Con- gress and the International Trust for Zoological Nomenclature under which a Colloquium on Zoological Nomenclature is being organised by the International Trust on the lines of the Colloquium organised by that body in connection with the Copenhagen Congress. The Colloquium will open on Wednesday, the 9th July i.e. one week prior to the opening of the London Congress. It is hoped that this body will be able to relieve the Congress of the bulk of the work involved in the scrutiny of the draft of the revised Code and will be able to submit to the Congress agreed recom- mendations as to the text to be adopted.
