108 Boekaankondiging SIXTEN STRÖMBOM, Masterpieces of the Swedish National Museum. With a perface by Erik Wettergren. Albert Bonnier, Stockholm, 1951. In de Engelsche editie van dit voortreffelijk uitgevoerde reproductiewerk richt de inleider, Dr. Wettergren, zich tot de "English speaking world" en spreekt hij de hoop uit, dat velen het Stokholmsch museum zullen leeren kennen. "We would be happy to think that art can help to bring us still closer together". Voordien beschrijft hij, zooals hij het ook voor de Zweden gedaan had in de eerste uitgave, de lotgevallen van de kunstwerken tijdens en na den oorlog. De gedachte dit boek samen te stellen kwam op tijdens een tentoonstelling van meesterwerken, toen het gevaar voor luchtaanvallen was geweken, maar voordien had men - "who could have pleaded the Dutch cause more eloquently than Rembrandt and his circle?" - een expositie gearrangeerd ,,for Rembrandt's country". Het verwarmt het hart, dat na eenige jaren nog eens te lezen. Het museum van Stokholm is terecht beroemd om zijn Rembrandts en om de verzameling Franschen, welke graaf Gustav Tessin v66r 1752 wist bijeen te brengen, en welke in latere jaren door het doortastend en toch wijs beleid van een actieve commissie, door den
