Daniel Wuchters 239 A Fresco painting in the Great Church at Breda by JACOB POR. In the beginning of the XVI century the large section of the arched roof was painted, the centre surrounded with clouds, a wreath of foliage, rays of light and floating angels. The technique of the execution has much of the fresco-secco, and is so perfect that the painter of it must have learned the art in Italy. There, too, he will have first seen in paintings these floating angels. Of the school of Rogier van der Weyden, the master remained a Netherlander in his work. Grabar immers geeft in zijn boek een reproductie van het schilderij in kwestie, een portret van den patriarch Nikon in het klooster Woskresenskij - Jerusalimskij (deel VI, blz. 417).
