ISBN 978- 0-7162-0632-3 (pbk). Th ese essays of Geoff rey Wainwright cover aspects of his thinking on God, the Bible, the Church and the world published between 1995 and 2007. Many were written for specifi c occasions and benefi t from the focus which an aware- ness of a particular audience brings. Despite their apparent diff useness they point to the dynamic nature of the continuing ecumenical conversation of the Churches towards unity. Th is is a conversation in which he has been a lively presence since 1976, fi rst in connection with the Faith and Order Commission of the World Council of Churches, and since 1986 as the Methodist Chair of the Joint Commission for Dialogue between the World Methodist Council and the Roman Catholic Church. Reading these essays has underlines just how much has been achieved, how much remains to be done and the excite- ment of the whole enterprise.
