5. Announcements and Communications 85 5. Announcements and Communications 1. HENDRIK KRAEMER: 100th anniversary Lectori Salutem! The Reverend Mrs B. Ruys of the Berlin Hendrik Kraemer Haus has reminded us that 1988 will see the 100th anniversary of Hendrik Kraemer's birth. That year it will also be 50 years ago that the Tambaram Conference, in which Hendrik Kraemer played such an important part, was held. In consultation with the Hendrik Kraemer Institute of Oegstgeest, Rev. Ruys, Prof. P.E. Kraemer, Prof. M.R. Spindler, Prof. A. Wessels, Ms N.H. Voltelen and the Undersigned met at Utrecht for a brain- storming session. . It was agreed: 1. in order to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Hendrik Kramer's birth, that ways and means should be found to initiate renewed reflection and consideration of the ideas he stood for, particularly with regard to the central theme in his thinking: the encounter . of cultures and religions; 2. to encourage missiologists and missionary institutions to set up courses of studies on Hendrik Kraemer's work or parts of it.
