Note On the Amendment of Morocco's 1970 Copyright Law 264 NOTE ON THE AMENDMENT OF MOROCCO'S 1970 COPYRIGHT LAW* Morocco's Copyright Law of 29 July 1970, has been amended with respect to "the protection of broadcasting services destined to a specific audience". Act No. 31 of 1993 with respect to the "protection of broadcasting services destined to a specific audience" henceforth punishes piracy. The integral text of the Act, as published in the Official Gazette of 3 August 1994 reads as follows. Article 1 Any person who knowingly manufactures, imports with a view to selling or hiring, puts to sale, possesses to the effect of selling, sells or installs any equipment, material, device or instrument designed, in all or in part, to fraudulently get TV broadcast programmes, where the said programmes are destined to a specific audience entitled thereto to a consideration paid to the service operator, shall be liable to a fine starting from Dh 10,000. Article 2 Any person who orders, designs, arranges or broadcasts an advertisement, promoting, whether directly or indirectly, any equipment, material, device or instrument mentioned in the foregoing Article shall be liable to a fine starting from Dh 5,000.
