Book Review Frieden durch Recht – Friedenssicherung durch internationale Rechtsprechung und Rechtsdurchsetzung, Patricia Schneider, Kristina Thony and Erwin Müller (editors), Nomos Verlagsgesellschaft, Baden-Baden, 2003, 239 pp. According to the preface of the authors the collection aims at contributing to the consensus of the predominant majority of the community of states con- cerning the principle of civilizing conflict management. Institutions shall be created or strengthened to safeguard the weak and peaceful from the forays of the powerful in conformity with the dictum “peace through law”. The core of the politics of such a “coalition of willing” is the promotion of the efficiency of the international (arbitral) jurisdiction including its mechanisms of enforcing judgments and the executive instances of the guarantee of safety and justice. The intention is to exhibit how far the community of states has already reached this aim. The collection includes several contributions. They should be understood as a unity, concerning peacekeeping by means of international jurisprudence and law enforcement including the policing component.
