Dutch Pentecostal Response

Dutch Pentecostal Response 75 words, because I had a foot in both camps and not both feet in one camp, I was disqualified from participating in the dialogue between the two camps! The report acknowledges that Pentecostals come from diverse denominational backgrounds (#29), but restricting the dialogue to members of an "historic Pentecostal denomination" pret- ty much eliminates those who come out of Reformed denominations. Most Reformed church members came into contact with Pentecostal teachings through the charismatic renewal and very few of them were comfortable with the Wesleyan stance of the historic Pentecostal denominations. Instead most Reformed charismatics either stayed in Reformed churches or moved into independent Charismatic/ Pentecostal churches. It also seemed that WARC made very little effort to include Reformed charismatics in the dialogue. Yet charis- matics who stayed in the various Reformed churches are probably the ones who have the most to gain from the dialogue and would have been the most invested in the process. If the dialogue continues, I think the criteria for the selection of participants needs to be reexam- ined and more people who have an investment in both traditions need to be included. Abstract

75 words, because I had a foot in both camps and not both feet in one camp, I was disqualified from participating in the dialogue between the two camps! The report acknowledges that Pentecostals come from diverse denominational backgrounds (#29), but restricting the dialogue to members of an "historic Pentecostal denomination" pret- ty much eliminates those who come out of Reformed denominations.
