BOOK REVIEW SECTION-INTRODUCTORY NOTE The book review section will aim to cover in each issue: a) cross-cul- tural works, including works on world history, intercultural history and comparative history; b) works on non-European history; and c) works involving new or interdisciplinary approaches; as well as d) other works on European history. This will be reflected informally in the sequence in which reviews appear in each issue, though longer review articles on any topic will appear first. Within each sub-section, reviews will appear in the approximate chronological sequence of the works reviewed. ANTONY BLACK Book Review Editor
