216 the early years of this century and has collectively come to be known in recent years as the Old Series, although this is not specified in its class- marks. Material which has been recognized as significant during the last twenty years has recently been conserved as the T-S New Series. A pre- liminary guide to the contents of both this series and the Old Series was published as A Guide to the Taylor-Schechter Genizah Collection by S. C. Reif, issued by Cambridge University Library in 1973. The remainder of the material was left in crates until 1974, when a joint programme involving Cambridge University Library, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, the Israel National Academy of Sciences and Humanities, and the Institute of Microfilmed Hebrew Manuscripts of the Jewish National and University Library in Jerusalem led to its preliminary classification, so that the work of conservation could begin. The material which has been dealt with in this programme is known as the T-S Additional Series.
