KHAN The Quran Through Fourteen Hijra Centuries Celebrations, were held under the auspices of the Indo-Arab Cultural Association on the 29th and the 30th January, 1983 at the Asiatic Society of Calcutta. The opening session held on the 29th at 3 p.m. was presided over by Mr. Justice S. A. Masud and it was inaugurated by His Excellency Moustafa Ahmad Ali, Minister of Culture, Egyptian Embassy, New Delhi, while Mr. Amir Saleh Shihab of Iraq acted as the Chief Guest. M. S. Khan the General Secretary of the Association welcomed the delegates. In his inaugural address, His Excellency Moustafa Ahmed Ali stated that the Qur'an contains ssuch a complete code of human life that its teachings and instructions of socio- ethical nature may be acceptable to the entire humanity. Mr. Amir Saleh Shihab discussed some verses of the Qur'an dealing with the correct belief in God, also mentioning the well-known verse in which Allah is described as the light of heaven and earth.
