A Critical Study on T.F. Torrance’s Theology of Incarnation

A Critical Study on T.F. Torrance’s Theology of Incarnation Book Reviews / Journal of Reformed Theology 5 (2011) 221-242 239 Man Kei Ho, A Critical Study on T.F. Torrance’s Theology of Incarnation (Frankfurt: Peter Lang, 2008), x + 290 pp., €49.00 (ISBN 9783039116782). Man Kei Ho is currently an adjunct professor at the Canadian Chinese School of Theology at Tyndale Seminary in Toronto. This thesis is the result of his studies under the guidance of Professor Tom O’Loughlin, University of Wales. Ho gives a critical view of T.F. Torrance’s theology of incarnation in addressing the sub themes of Theological Methods, Christology, Trinity, Revelational Epistemology and Kenosis. He concludes that the theological argu- ment of Torrance lacks consistency and he mainly points to Torrance’s rejection and then later accommodation of natural theology to show this incoherence. The theological method employed by Torrance is described as an effort to bring new scientific theories into the realm of theology by employing a unitary structure. This unitary structure is, according to Ho, a result of Torrence’s use of tools of dialectic and theological sciences in order to pull two opposite ideas together to form a unified concept without having to address its discrepancies. Ho argues that this unitary structure is used http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Journal of Reformed Theology Brill
