This reviewer hopes that other philosophi- cal movements or enclaves will also take it to heart. It is more than a recapitulation of Robert Sokolowski’s life-work of over forty years as a teacher and author. The signature theme of Sokolowski’s teaching, that human persons are agents of man- ifestation, is now to be understood as inseparable from the individual’s member- ship in a community’s ongoing conversation. It is also a long over-due insertion of some Husserlian doctrines into a linguistic-communal context (a project which has been underdeveloped 1 ).
