A NEW SPECIES OF DENDROCEPHALUS (ANOSTRACA, THAMNOCEPHALIDAE) FROM ARGENTINA BY GUIDO A. PEREIRA S. and LUIS RUIZ B. Instituto de Zoologia Tropical, Universidad Central de Venezuela, Apartado 47058, Caracas 1041-A, Venezuela ABSTRACT A description of a new species of Anostraca, Dendrocephalus conosuris n. sp., is presented. It occurs in the Province of Santa Fe, Argentina. The description is based on the morphological characters of the male, especially those of the frontal appendage and of the endopods of the first two pairs of legs. The female is described as well. A comparison of the penis of all ten known species is made to conclude, that there are species-specific features on it. RESUMEN Se describe una nueva especie de Anostraca, Dendrocephalus conosuris n. sp. Esta especie habita en charcas temporales en la Provincia de Santa Fé, Argentina. La descripción está basada en características morfológicas de machos adultos, especialmente en los caracteres del apéndice frontal y los endópodos de los dos primeros pares de patas. Se describe también un alotipo. Se realiza una comparación de los penes de todas las 10 especies de Dendrocephalus conocidas para concluir que existen caracteres específicos para cada una de las especies. ' INTRODUCTION The genus
