S wanson , New Testament Greek Manuscripts: The Acts of the Apostles (Pasadena: William Carey International University Press, 1998), pp. xxvii + 513. ISBN 0865850550. $ 39.95. In 1996 Professor Reuben Swanson published four volumes setting out in hor- izontal lines all the readings in a selected number of manuscripts collated against Codex Vaticanus (B 03). These volumes were reviewed in NovT 39 (1997) pp. 286-9. This indefatigable octogenarian has continued his text critical work and presents now in a similar way the variants in Acts. This is not an edited critical text, but a carefully laid out display of readings in horizontal lines based on a signiŽ cant range of continuous text Greek witnesses in full. Text and textual appa- ratus stand together. The citations from the works of Clement of Alexandria are given separately where appropriate, as they were in the earlier volumes. Clement is the only patristic witness cited and has been selected because he was the sub- ject of Swanson’s doctoral thesis! A few reŽ nements have been made since Swanson’s earlier publications.
