239 Under these divisions and sub-divisions LASOR has accounted for 3,982 publications. A list of sixty-nine special subjects has also been appended, as the sub-divisions do not, of course, cover the entire range of subjects that arise in connexion with the Dead Sea Scrolls. In addition, there is also an eight page index of the writers who have directed their attention to the Qumran and related matters. From the four page list of abbreviations of names of periodicals it appears that our magazine is referred to as NT. One can only be grateful for the amount of care LASOR has taken with this book. He has not brought us any closer to solving any of the many problems surrounding the Dead Sea Scrolls, but what he has done is even more im- portant. He has given everyone who encounters these problems the oppor- tunity of becoming fully informed before passing an opinion. For this he deserves our whole-hearted thanks. Finally I should like to say this. Anyone who reads in a review of one of his publications the criticism that he is not sufficiently at home in the Qumran literature, only has himself to blame.
