Etudes Puniques

Etudes Puniques 270 Vol. III : The rôle of historical scholarship in changing the relations among religions, ix + 89 pp., Gld. 9,50 These well produced Proceedings, edited by H. W. SCHNEIDER (Claremont) and B. A. VAN PROOSDI (Leiden), provide us with the papers of the plenary sessions devoted to the subject: traditional religions and modern culture, together with welcome-addresses, the programme of the sessions, reports of the business meetings and a list of the members of the congress (Volume I); the abstracts of the papers read in the section sessions, on the subject: guilt and purification (Volume II); and the papers of a symposion devoted to the subject: the modern relations among religions (Volume III). The volumes are distributed to all members of the congress, a clear indi- cation of the financial success of the meeting. The members will be grateful to have the text of a number of interesting communications covering such a large field of learning, and so will be the purchasers. But what to say about the publication of abstracts of papers ? Most of them are very short. The reviewer would have preferred a publication of the full texts of the papers, preferably together with http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Vetus Testamentum Brill
