The Study Conference On "Methodology of the Science of Religion" in Turku, Finland, 1973

The Study Conference On "Methodology of the Science of Religion" in Turku, Finland, 1973 THE STUDY CONFERENCE ON "METHODOLOGY OF THE SCIENCE OF RELIGION" IN TURKU, FINLAND, 1973 BY R. PUMMER University of Ottawa, Canada At the 12th International Congress of the International Association for the History of Religions in Stockholm, in 1970, it was decided to hold a study conference on the methodology of the history of religions in Turku, Finland, in 1973. Turku suggested itself for several reasons. It has not only two chairs of Comparative Religion and has been the center of the study of the science of religion for the last ten years in Finland, but it had already held a symposium on methodological questions in 1970. Furthermore, there is the Donner Institute for Research in Religious and Cultural History (founded in 1957) with its excellent library, the symposia organized by the Institute, and the Scripta Instit?cti Doitneriani Aboensis in which the proceedings of these symposia are published. The Finnish Society for the Study of Comparative Religion publishes since 1965 the yearbook Teyvcerco.r ("Studies in Comparative Religion presented by scholars in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden"). Thus, Scandinavian and in particular Finnish scholarship in the field of the history of religions assured a well prepared and fruitful meeting. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Numen Brill
