Here, too, pascere seems to be taken as 'to feed'. The translation seems to take the two datives into account. However, pascere and bubus ... uni, etc. cannot be construed in this way. The TLL cites the passage s.v. pascere as an instance of absolute use in the sense of 'to feed' (591 . 7 1f. ), but gives no further help as to how to interpret the dative. Schonberger, in his Tusculum translation, seems to take pascere in the sense of 'to use land for pasturage, to graze', with the land understood (OLD 8; TLL s.v. 597.76 ff.) and translates: 'Während der Kaufer weidet, wird dem Besitzer das Recht vorbehalten, mit zwei Gespannen Zugochsen und einem Wallach zu weiden'. I think that this translation gives the intended meaning of the sentence. However, it does not corres- pond with the reading bubus ... uni (dative).
