Cambridge,... 439 It would be no difficult task to find matter for dispute in Witke's book, as in any book on Latin Satire. In addition his style-cf. e.g. p. 15z on Juvenal-and his presentation (e.g. of Latin verse extracts printed continuously with oblique line divisions) do not always make for easy reading, his translations have no pretension to literary merit, and the book has more than a fair share of misprints. Its readers deserve better indices than the brief `Aliquantarum Index Rerum' (p. 276) and the 'Index Nominum' (pp. 277-280) which is completely lacking in specification.
