3I9 be an original and consistent (but, in my opinion, a wrong) solution of the problem, for it does not occur in this special form in modern interpretations of Plato. But this supposition may go too far. At any rate Albinus did not resort to the rather week argument that the very use of the word x«p«yevla8«1 in Plato should confine this notion to the region of the yiyv6pLev«. For we find in his work the term Ú1tOcr't'?VOCL in stead of 1tOCpocye:'JÉcr6ocL 1).. The question of Albinus' originality is of course not yet com- pletely settled. Thus far we are only justified in stating that the real centre of his metaphysics, viz. the consistent combination of the three notions above-mentioned is proper to him. . (to be concluded).
