Three New Corydoras Species From French Guiana and Brazil (Pisces, Siluriformes, Callichthyidae)

Three New Corydoras Species From French Guiana and Brazil (Pisces, Siluriformes, Callichthyidae) THREE NEW CORYDORAS SPECIES FROM FRENCH GUIANA AND BRAZIL (PISCES, SILURIFORMES, CALLICHTHYIDAE) by H. NIJSSEN and I. J. H. ISBRÜCKER (Institute of Taxonomic Zoology, University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands) SUMMARY Three new species of South American plated catfishes of the genus Corydoras Lace- pède, 1803 are described and figured: Corydoras condiscipulus n. sp. from Fleuve Oyapock, border river between French Guiana and Brazil (= Rio Oiapoque), C. narcissus n. sp., and C. robustus n. sp., both from a tributary creek of the Rio Ipixuna, Rio Purus system, Est. Amazonas, Brazil. The occurrence of C. oiapoquensis Nijssen, 1972, C. amapaensis Nijssen, 1972, and C. condiscipulus in French Guiana and Brazil is recorded. INTRODUCTION The three Corydoras species herein described as new were found while examining specimens from various sources. Measurements and meristic data are taken following the same methods as described for the species of the genus Aspidoras (NIJSSEN & ISBRTCKER, 1976: 108). In the de- scriptions and discussions of the species, figures are proportional in comparison with standard length (sl) or head length (hl). The morpho- metric data for the holotype are given first in millimetres, followed by proportions in parentheses.
