SUMMARY OF THE ANNUAL REPORT On January 1st, 1972, the membership of the Society was 787. This number appears to have been fairly constant in the past five years, viz., 788 (1968), 783 (1969), 796 (1970), 784 (1971). In 1971 the death occurred of our members L. Braber and G. Mondel. The scientific activities of the Society are listed below. In these proceedings there is no report on a large symposium, in the organisa- tion of which the Society took part. Its subject was "Ethology, the biology of behaviour" ; before long, many of its participants will be organized
