The cytogenetic studies of a 61-year-old male with an acute myeloid leukemia revealed prior to antileukemic therapy a heteromorphic pair of chromosomes with fused arms and mid-located centromere. Also the and loss of A3, B and G accompanied by gain of D and E members, were consistent karyotypic findings. The karyotypicpattern of different cell lines was suggestive of a common stem cell origin.
