Abstract
The '85 Monsoon Season Expedition of our Senior Common Room Walking, Eating and Drinking Club was a little late starting. Any expedition to the source of the Pennine Way PW in the footsteps of Alfred Wainwright and Tom Stephenson is subject to unlooked for logistic difficulties. In our case it was that one of us, myself, could not start before lunch on Saturday the full Academic Board, at its final meeting of term, had declined to allow us to close the Library on SaturdaysinAugust. And so our first day consisted of a sortie from the railway station at Edale to the Youth Hostel, ditto.
