To enable an assembling frame to bo dispensed with when erecting polygonal wirebraced main rings of a rigid airship each main ring comprises a plurality of polygonal rings braced by inwardly projecting girders arranged between the constituent rings. Each ring 10, Fig. 1, comprises two spaced ring girders 12, Fig. 3, having longitudinally spaced joints 14, 15 at the corners of the polygon. Short girders 17 have their outer ends connected between rings 12 at the joints 14 and their inner ends connected by girders 21 to the joints 15. At the sides and at the upper portion of the ring 10 the girders 21 embrace three sides of the polygon and are braced by girders 22. The lower portion of the ring 10 is braced by a framework 23.
