This is simply a reprinting of the second volume of the preceeding edition with identical text and paging. Even minor alterations such as were made in the first volume of this new edition (reviewed in The Journal, Aug. 16, 1930) are absent. The only change is a new plate, Taf. II, facing page 144. In the twenty-eighth edition this has roentgenograms of the normal lumbar part of the spine and the same region ankylosed and atrophied. The new plate contains these two illustrations reduced in size and two others not shown heretofore: one illustrating spondylitis deformans of the lumbar vertebrae; the other, tuberculous thoracic spondylitis.
