Manila, April 14, 1905. To the Editor: —In connection with the editorial in the Medical Review Dec. 10, 1904, on the above question the following statements may be worthy of consideration: It is to be regretted that the report of the committee appointed to investigate the use of opium and matters therewith connected has not been published, as an acquaintance with its contents might lead to an avoidance of inaccurate statements in regard to its purport. But as the report is voluminous, containing not only the findings, conclusions and recommendations of the committee, but also all the evidence, statistics and laws on which they are based, it is still in the hands of the printer. The report will stand or fall on its own intrinsic merit, and should be read, if a sufficiently patient reader may be found, before the final word of criticism or commendation is said. Until the
