HOME TREATMENT OF TUBERCULOSIS. The profession is to be congratulated on the progress made in the study of tuberculosis during the last few years. Through better knowledge of the subject, more people recover from the disease, an earlier diagnosis is made in many cases, and a more rational care of the patients has come about. The modern sanatorium management too, we may well believe, offers the best chances for recovery and is destined to still further reduce the general mortality. But most patients are unable to pay for institution treatment and the state can never hope to provide sanatoria for half of the indigent cases, even if they were all willing to go to them, which is not the case. There will always be a large number of people who will sicken with consumption and recover or die from it at home.
