THE RADICAL TREATMENT OF SPINA BIFIDA. Considerable attention is being directed, of late, to the treatment of spina bifida (id est, hydrorrhachis) by means of excision of the sac of the tumor. This is distinctly a reversion to first principles, inasmuch as the operation is by no means a new one, and has for many years past been discountenanced by the authorities as unproductive of the best results. But, like many another surgical procedure that has long since been laid away on the shelf, it bids fair to be freed from its venerable dust and appear again with new lustre.
