LETTER FROM LONDON. (FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.) Deaths from Starvation and Privation—The London School of Medicine for Women—Shortening the Round Ligaments for Uterine Displacements—The Better Feeding of the People. The usual annual return of deaths in the Metropolitan district upon which coroner's juries have returned a verdict of death from starvation or accelerated by privation shows that the number of these deaths in the year 1884, was thirty-seven; of these, eight occured in the central division of Middlesex, twenty-six in the eastern division, two in the western and one in the Greenwich division. In the absence of Mrs. Garrett-Anderson, the Dean of the London School of Medicine for Women, Mr. A. T. Norton read the report for the past year, at the late distribution of prizes and certificates won by the pupils.
