Abstract This small, high-quality book is composed of 30 chapters contributed by Scandinavians interested in venous diseases. The title suggests that it is mainly about controversies, yet there is much valuable information regarding the treatment of common venous problems. Each chapter is followed by an invited commentary from recognized experts who apparently were encouraged to be candid in expressing their opinions, even if they disagree with each other. The chapters are refreshingly concise and to the point, and they contain subdivisions well marked by boldface type. The line drawings are for the most part well done, although in some cases they are diagrammatically oversimplified. Reproductions of photographs are excellent, and they are accompanied by accurate, descriptive legends. The chapters are each followed by appropriate references that include the classic reports as well as more modern ones.
