Abstract In this volume, Dr Enneking has provided us with the principles of musculoskeletal tumor surgery, based on his enormous experience during 20 years of studying more than 7,500 patients with musculoskeletal lesions. The book is divided into three sections. The first sets the stage by presenting the natural history of connective tissue tumors, which leads to a description of the staging system, followed by chapters on preoperative evaluation, surgical planning, the planning of reconstructive and rehabilitative procedures, and follow-up care. This first section, because it presents basic principles and outlines an orderly and thorough examination of the patient with a musculoskeletal lesion, will be of particular interest to students and practitioners of medicine as well as to tumor specialists. The second section deals with the anatomic setting and its peculiarities and how they influence clinical appearance, staging, and surgical treatment of musculoskeletal tumors.
