Abdominal Palpation by Stethoscope

Abdominal Palpation by Stethoscope Abstract To the Editor.—I read with considerable interest the description of "abdominal palpation by stethoscope" by Dr Meyerowitz (Arch Surg 111:831, 1976). I too have been very impressed with this technique; however, I was some-what disappointed not to find earlier references to its use noted. For academic and historic reasons, I think it worthy to note Dr Mellinkoff's description of this useful sign1 and to further note Dr Oldstone's caution in its use and interpretation.2 References 1.
