U. S. Naval Medical Research Laboratory, U. S. Naval Submarine Base Abstract Foreword In October, 1958, the members of the Advisory Panel on Medical Sciences, Research and Engineering, Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense, visited the Naval Medical Research Laboratory at the U. S. Naval Submarine Base to hear a report by workers in the Naval Medical Research Laboratory and their problems peculiar to shipboard submarine and diving medicine.Members of the panel were impressed with the methods used to attain these objectives, the facilities available, the accomplishment of these objectives, and the practical application of results of the multitudinous researches being carried out.The problems which the medical specialists there have encountered were of sufficient general interest to all practitioners of medicine to warrant a report on them from Capt. Joseph Vogel, officer in charge of the laboratory. Captain Vogel agreed to write such a report. In addition to hearing reports of the work which is herein presented, members of References 1.
