PROGRESS IN ORTHOPEDIC SURGERY FOR 1943 A REVIEW PREPARED BY AN EDITORIAL BOARD OF THE AMERICAN... Abstract In spite of war and confusion, able and numerous articles have been published in the surgical journals on all phases of the treatment of fractures. In 1943 more articles on war wounds, fatigue fractures and devices for external fixation appeared than in former years. We have tried to make a fair appraisal of them and to submit reviews of those we consider most timely. Any oversights are more than likely due to the endless demands on the reviewers in these parlous times. Fractures of the Face and Jaw. —It is more and more apparent that fractures of the face and jaw require free interchange of opinion among dentists, plastic surgeons and orthopedic surgeons if best results are to be obtained.
