Abstract Sir.—Prostaglandin E1 (PGE1) infusions have been used in the treatment of occlusive vascular diseases since 1973, when Carlson and Eriksson1 described subjective improvement in three of four patients with peripheral atherosclerotic vascular disease and ischemic rest pain given PGE1 by femoral artery infusion.
