With all recent advances in pediatrics incorporated, the work is up-to-date in every chapter and reflects the rapid development of pediatrics in recent years. The international literature, especially the American, has been thoroughly considered; it is a document of increasing and fruitful international scientific collaboration. The diction is masterful, a splendid example of the old French tradition of cultivated writing. In accord with the development of many special fields in pediatrics, the authors have enlisted the services of 38 collaborators. Experience has shown that textbooks with a large number of individual authors frequently lack uniformity, some chapters being out of proportion.
