Objective Diagnostics in the Vibration of Vocal Cords

Objective Diagnostics in the Vibration of Vocal Cords Abstract A NEW method of investigating the vibration of vocal cords is described using a model of a laryngoscope developed by me. This model records the vibration of each vocal cord separately. The interest in investigations into the movements of vocal cords and their position to each other as well as to the medial glottic region have been described often in the professional literature (Luchsinger, 1958, Timcke, von Leden, Moore, 1959, and others). Papers dealing with this question were founded on photographical, cinematographical, and stroboscopic methods. These methods have introduced new information into the studies of the physiopathology of the larynx. It is well known that by use of direct and indirect laryngoscopy, applied generally in the practice of the day, we are unable to perceive the fast movements of vocal cords. These movements vibrate with great speed (between 60 and about 2,000 cps) and, therefore, the eye cannot follow them References 1.
