Abstract The words tomography and tomogram are very new to the American literature. The procedure is a sort of glorified method of x-ray where ordinary pictures are not satisfactory; for example, in malformations, erosions of the labyrinth etc., where demonstration of bony structures must be shown in finest detail. Italy and France have used the technique for a long time (from the 1930's or so), but it is just now getting a foothold in Germany. Hence this remarkable book of photographs, with text in English as well as in German, help clarify the studies. One could spend days in concentrated effort here. However, this may not be entirely necessary, since the ordinary photograms are sufficient in most cases save those of diagnostic problems before surgery. This book represents enormous detail which is so characteristic of German scientific work. Otologists in America will be grateful for the help it can give. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png A.M.A. Archives of Otolaryngology American Medical Association
